South Asians typically comprise individuals of Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Nepali, Bhutan descent. Individuals from the Maldives are also often included under the South Asian umbrella.

South Asian Americans are those who ethnically, racially, or culturally identify as American and/or are those who are born in America.
